baby h is a...

Anyone that knows me, knows there are few things I love more, than a good theme party. A (donut theme) birthday party, pineapples for a girlfriend's birthday bash and a tea party bridal shower made for fun times! Our gender reveal party would be no different- definite opportunity for a theme party!

No “pink” and “blue” store bought decor theme for me. After a couple flips through the “ rabbit hole” called Pinterest - I found the Perfect reveal theme. We would host a Game Day party, with some of our favorite things; Family, Close friends, Notre Dame football, good food and drinks from our best local brewery, March First Brewing.

Still needing a creative way to share Baby H’s gender, I wanted something creative, unique and meaningful to us! - Working for a local brewery in Cincinnati, provided the PERFECT opportunity to share our special news in a different way. This was how the idea of dyeing beer pink or blue for the Big Reveal was born…

Channeling my “inner” Martha, I made decorations. Team colored scrapbook paper (Hobby Lobby), a hole punch, some twine, lots of patience and 1 hour later, I had a cute little banner flag like those you see in stores everywhere, to hang over my buffet table. My “tablecloth” on the buffet is a blackwatch plaid blanket scarf purchased from Target Dollar Spot, my mom made me these cute little utensil holders (Inspiration found here). A perfect saying on the letterboard, and the buffet table was all set.

Since our event started at 3:00 pm (in time for kick-off), I wanted to serve heavy appetizers and game day food. My daddy, known for his grilling skills, smoked pork butts and ribs. Mini slider rolls, my signature mac & cheese, guacamole, crock pot queso, and spinach artichoke dip with tortilla chips completed the menu. Stay tuned for dip recipes in an upcoming post. It was a nice and simple game day meal.

Small details can make a HUGE difference - custom cookies from Donna’s Gourmet Cookies in Cincinnati - what an impact! Cookies with the Notre Dame blue and gold colors, gold helmets and green shamrocks were the perfect touch and made creative ( fun) party favors for guests. I also created my own invitations- (using Illustrator) and a football theme, to keep the cost low. Staples is a great place to print your invites at a very low price (approx $30.00 for 20 postcards)- much cheaper than cardstock invitations.

We were SO happy to create a unique gender reveal to share with our family and friends and officially announce that Baby H is a BOY!!!

We are very thrilled to welcome Calvin into the world, Dec 2017.
