just engaged, now what?

Congratulations! Your man popped the question! But you may be thinking “oh my gawshhh now what?” Here’s a few quick tips of what to do next to make the most of your engagement and get rolling on wedding planning.

  1. Take a moment to celebrate together. When we *finally* got engaged, I was so excited that all I wanted to do was tell EVERYONE. Instead, we took a few hours to ourselves and had dinner, toasted our new journey and just enjoyed being together. It is so important when wedding planning to take time for yourself because it can get SO stressful and you need to take time to remember why you’re doing all this work!

  2. Do your nails, tell your friends/family. If your nails aren’t already done, then paint them or have them done. Tell your close friends and family in person if possible. I lived in another state, so I FaceTime’d everyone. In my opinion, it’s super important to tell those people close to you in person rather than over social media.

  3. Pick a venue, set a date. I have these two things together because you really can’t do one without the other. We set a month and then looked at venues to see what they had available during that month. Don’t peg yourself to a specific date, because it may mean giving up your dream venue.

  4. Get a wedding checklist. Whether you choose to work with a wedding planner, download an online checklist or get a wedding planning book from amazon or a bookstore, get some kind of checklist. There were SO many things that I didn’t think of when we started wedding planning. Having recommendations of what things to discuss with my family and fiance really helped us to get the wedding planning going.

Most importantly, don’t stress! You only *hopefully* get married once, and while it can be a stressful time, it’s definitely worth it in the end when you get to see your honey waiting for you at the end of the aisle.
